its quite annoying having to buy upgrades all resets, and each full pink reset only gives you 24 points, with perma levels costing 500 points... it would be nice to buy a "auto leveller" or soemthing like that... instead of having to manually set the levels each time that is cheaper than the 500 point
I ended up messing with the game to get 500 reincarnation points using scripts, if anyone wants it, I can come up with something
Mind sharing that script for reincarnation points? And for that matter, maybe one to artificially bump up gems, if you can?
if you know how to use chrome devtools that would be good, otherwise I may need some time to try to hack into this
with chrome devtools you can search for "Gem Speed: " there put a breakpoint in that line, collect the blue or pink cells
once the breakpoint has stopped, you can access the current version of the game, the game state with the letter l
Never used the devtools to my knowledge; I use opera gx, so I'm not sure how well that would translate, but since it's chromium-based I hope i can give it a shot and I'll try anyways.
I do at least know how to handle opening up the console with ctrl+shift+I, from fiddling around with Cookie Clicker, so that's something.
Okay, so I tried my damndest but even with instructions, I have... literally no idea what I'm doing/supposed to do with the devtools. Mind helping a brother out?

Green Push has no XP skill.
Squares focused on the blue level. More squares focused on the red level. I knew that from the get go and still wondered how far it could go.
I spent an incommensurable amount of time on crystals - T5 base, 1.4bn mana, 738x collection, 147x speed - so it will still take me 7h to fill the first row. With green skills I may have pushed further but it does feel like I'll have to wait for Morer squares instead.

These squares have enchanted me, I have spent so much time on this for some reason. I have maxed out every reincarnation skill but Stronger Tiers/Mana Cap/half of Green Speed, and really look forward to any updates that might happen! Not sure if you plan on updating this more, or are just gonna keep working on new things? I feel compelled to keep going until I can get a full row on green but I should probably take a break lol
I love the amount of strategy that can be used, respeccing in order to collect more squares vs going faster and stuff is actually really fun
and I'm probably taking an unpopular opinion here, but I actually kinda like that the tiers for the crystals don't always give a boost and therefore make you "lose" some of their bonus when combining them, after all you don't HAVE to combine them as soon as you get them, just fill up the board and start fusing them once you really have some good bonuses going and can sacrifice a bit of them.
Some constructive criticism, even for liking how slow it is, is that the gems feel pretty useless after a certain point, the fact that there's no real way to increase how many you get, plus the upgrades scaling, means that I would have to wait literal hours upon hours to get enough for one upgrade, and it can't even be idled. Reincarnating has a similar problem, but at least you can grind for that later on
I also wish I could set one colour of block to wait the 3 seconds for autocollection and the other not, I'm not sure if that's a glitch or not, but my ideal strategy would be to set blue to not wait 3 seconds so i could guarantee the luck bonuses quickly, and then set pink to wait 3 seconds, then i could just sit in the mana tab and click 'channel mana' every few seconds to collect green squares...
Actually, I'm realising as i type this that i've probably gotten enough speed bonus that I don't need to rely on the luck bonus to fill out the pink grid like that now... XD it still would have been helpful a while ago
(the calculations on luck% also seems a little odd for the threshold setting, it conflicts a bit with what the arrows say when you hover over them?)
Final thought for that, is that an option to 'buy max possible' would be cool, and more hotkeys in general?
OH- one more thing, after upgrading the tiers that crystals spawn at, you can get stuck with T1s on your board that you no longer can do anything with, since no more T1s will spawn to combine them with. It'd be nice to be able to toss those, or something!
hopefully any of this makes sense! i spent the last (checks previous comment) oh geez, 3 weeks, playing this off and on while i was home, that's my biggest compliment really, that it grabbed my attention this much!! nice job!
Is it normal that it blocks after 1 green ? takes me 25 minutes to get a green, so i should be able to get more than one, no ?
and the 'green push' doesn't have anything to spend it's skill points on
The XP bonus for total squares doesn't count green squares
Game basically flatlines when you get to the green squares. Needs some serious rebalancing. No sign of life from the dev, despite all the comments.
yeah getting green moving takes a lot of grinding out the RP, Gems and Crystals
Can someone explain what OOM is? I can't find anything in-game to explain it. All I know is it's related to mana somehow.
Stands for Order Of Magnitude, or the number of zeroes. so 10 would be 1, 100 is 2, 1000 is 3, etc
Is Magical Collect supposed to give you green? It doesn't seem to do so.

Contrary to what I'm reading here I think most of the pacing is quite ok, not every game needs to be beaten in a few hours. The prestige upgrades is the only thing I think needs a rebalance, a 15% boost doesn't feel meaningful enough for the time invested and also it gets more expensive...
I think this is just a matter of expanding the end game on the 3rd color giving us ways to earn more prestige points after reaching it, maybe add a merge item that boosts prestige amount by +1x? Or even +0,5x so it doesn't get too fast too quick? Or even something in the diamond upgrades after reaching green?
Your first point on the prestige upgrades (reincarnation points) is exactly what I mean with pacing issues. I agree that not every game needs to be beaten in a few hours. I like that this game is a bit slower like that. But because the RP upgrades are so weak and so expensive and you can only get 24 max RP per reincarnation, it makes that part of the game incredibly grindy and slow to progress. I hope that part gets rebalanced somehow.
Otherwise, I do love the slower pacing of the game, I like that it doesn't quickly devalue the earlier parts due to being too fast-paced, like many other games.
I'm dreading the day I accidentally fill the crystal slots and choke.
Please increase the exponents to the gems because there is no reason to merge any of the gems besides the mana gems, because the amount of tier 1 gems used is better than the merged versions (it should be at least 2^tier-1 for a fun feeling system instead of 1.3^tier because that actively makes the gems worse when merged).
Also, diamond speed is really slow (maybe make an upgrade to increase diamond-ready speed).
There's diamond after green? The game is so slow, I haven't been able to get more than one green square. My strategy is to farm 100 greens for two crystals, then reset for RP. Am I doing it wrong?
i refuse to play it again until it's not so slow, because i was not having fun, it was just like a toxic feeling of wishing it would eventually get nice to me
Bug Fix - when purchasing Mana Storage after gem expansion, it miscalculates the mana lost to cover the price
reincarnation upgrades are far too weak, to the point of feeling useless, with how long it takes to get RP to spend on them, and it makes it difficult to make any meaningful amount of progress. furthermore, xp and gems, which do actually help, are incredibly slow, which also makes progress glacial.
Extremely like this game and am willing to tolerate e.g. an entire reincarnation taking more than one square, but the fact that RP cannot really get around the fact that ultimately you NEED to buckle down and get all the way to the final green square... oof. I seriously think even just a milestone at 9 pink rows could help a lot without compromising other things.
Honestly, the only thing keeping me playing at this point is knowing how much I liked the first iteration and hoping future updates will balance the early game better. I still haven't completed the first row of pink squares, and I've been playing since around the time this version became available. I'm not even sure what I'm doing wrong since I know other people have made it much further. I'm guessing part of my issue was that I went for high luck with anti-luck, slowing me down, which I didn't know until the hover tooltips were added. And maybe I'm playing too greedy with mana, trying to maximize my bonus before casting? Idk, and it's frustrating at this stage.
The pace of progression is really really slow, and only gets slower the further you go. I've been playing daily since release, and looks like the path ahead is extremely grindy and slow. I hope updates will improve the pacing, this game is super fun.
Definitely like the game concept... but the lack of meaningful progress after five/six days at this point has me wandering away from it and not thinking about coming back.

I loved your squares game, so when I saw this I got excited, but then when I loaded the page I couldn't play because I'm on my phone. If you're able to, please make it phone compatible, but if you can't its fine.
When combining Speed Crystals, I had two Tier 2's, combined them into a single Tier 3, and the total Speed it showed below went from 3 to 2. Before that I had a Tier 2 and two Tier 1's.
So I combined the two Tier 1's, then combined the two Tier 2's. I went from originally a 4x Speed (shown below the squares), to a 3x Speed, to a 2x Speed.
I'm confused. It is better to have multiple Tier 1's? Is the resulting Speed benefit 1.3 + 1.3 = 2.6x Speed? Or is it 30% + 30% = +60% Speed increase?
From the math I see for speed and collection two T1's is better than a T2 the formula is below the inventory grid and given the exponential nature of how many T1's you need to get higher T#'s I'm not sure they'd ever be worth merging except to have space for more ... the formula for the mana one on the other has very different that merge as much as you can
Yes, that's what I'm seeing and understanding. Thanks for your input. I was hoping to bring this to the dev's attention, because by default I would assume it behaves differently, so I'm not sure if this is intentional or not.
Another potential issue is if you get the crystal upgrade without preparing you can get trapped with T1's you'll never be able to upgrade ... which granted is only an issue for those who really push the game to it's limits but it's still a potential issue
Oh that's true. In other merge games you're usually able to delete those, or they're automatically upgraded to the next tier when that happens. Good catch! Hope the dev sees this and updates the game. I love this game!
What an amazing game!
I've played it for the last 5 days and I had a blast.
The only thing I would change or add is:
1. Faster progression (it felt like some of the upgrades could be more awarding from 15% increase to like 50%)
2.Some sort of offline progression - More Squares is a very active game, but sometimes you need to leave the game for a couple of hours and after coming back you expect to have some sort of boost or offline bonus
Anyways, that's my personal opinion only.
You do have an amazing game and keep working on it!
I got a gem spawn on the first square of the pink grid and can't seem to collect it

the game does not collect gems when running in the back ground
My game hangs on Firefox. It was fine for the past 2-3 days, then I left it running in the background today, and when I came back the game freezes, reloading doesn't fix it.

I don't know if it's a base feature or it came from an upgrade I forgot about but it seems every order of magnitude I have 'in the bank' so to speak the squares fill faster which makes only being able to see the first two digits of my 'bank' an egregious failing
Its the third blue unlock. You can hover over it's name to see what it does
Channel mana spell doesn't seem to work.
It doesn't affect the mana grid, only the main grid. And only until you collect the main grid. Each 1 mana you spend on it increases the main grid's speed by 2%, additively

That being said, I'm stuck on the first square of green. With 18x to collection and 13x to speed, im still stuck only getting 24 RP per reincarnation and many of the later upgrades seem super far away, especially since I have to do everything manually. Plus, many of the merge crystals scale faster additively than merging them, so i can only realistically get 2 more crystals per reincarnation. Any advice?

That's more an issue with how you're upgrading. I've been playing for 4 days, and am getting 1 pink per collect
There are only 3 things we can upgrade, thats a bit complicated to have an issue here
Three things with multiple upgrade lines in them. If you want to gain fast, aim for *WORSE* luck, not better luck.

See the yellow stars? If you click on them you access the upgrade menu
Why aim for worse luck?
It increases the chance of landing on a 2 or 3 when reaching the end of a row. Better luck makes it work slower, but you'll be more likely to hit a 7 or 9
the T2 f speed crystal is only giving a X1 boost
Spend more mana when channeling. Each 1 mana increases main grid speed by 2%, but it only shows 1 digit. It is probably working, but you just don't have visual proof because integer limit

I think it needs more automation. For me, I do a farming phase with a "more blues" focus in skill points. during this, i reset every 3-12 seconds depending on the mult and time to next multiplier. Would be nice to have a blue square cost to buy an auto collector and some different settings for it.
Please make it so you can scroll the milestones. I'm on the web version, if that helps

hit a bug where the game loads up frozen. might have something to do with leaving the automation on searching for 100% luck while the game was in the background as I was on another tab.
If I had to make any suggestions so far it would be to remove the "unlucky" part. It is objectively useless. ive tried experimenting with it and the boosts from high luck are just as fast but actually give you blue. I cant think of a single situation it would be more useful.
Love to see my bi folks represented in a game about squares(blue to pink).
All jokes aside, you did good with the update, I like the direction you're taking it, and I can't wait for the full game, so I'll keep playing this version
I didn't realize I couldn't collect before reincarnating, and now I'm stuck at the very beginning.
Apologies. I just pushed V0.2 - now reincarnation points are based on highest row reached this reincarnation.
Don't forget to also make it so you can't reincarnate until you're ready to get at least one point.
So far I prefer the first version. Don't get me wrong i'll go until the end even if it's super slow, but i love the powers from the first one

ofline progress (when tabbed out) would be nice because having to stay tabbed in to do anything is a pain in the ass.
